I believe that my style is really flexible. I think that everybody has a different way to learn so my style will vary based on the student. I also believe that the role of the teacher should the one of facilitating the student process but ultimately is the student who should dictate the style and the pace of the lesson. I believe also that listening is a really important part of music learning so I have my student listening to a lot of different music and also I play with them all the time so that they can hear and feel what is it to play together. For nearly all of my students, I start with Arban's Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet so that I can truly understand the students level of understanding of music and also get a grasp of their playing technique. From there, I will branch out to find something that suits both the students ability as well as their interests. Regardless of their ability, though, I always duet with my students to make them feel less pressure during lessons. Read More

In my private lessons I emphasize building a strong foundation in rhythm, intonation, and note accuracy.  I incorporate learning theory, and playing with musical intention into every lesson to develop maturity, even in young musicians.  My students are comfortable reading music, and have all the skills they need to practice effectively.  In addition, I have prepared many musicians for successful concerts, festivals, and gigs. I create my own custom lesson plans and materials to cater to the students needs.  For young beginners, I recommend the KJOS Standard of Excellence book. Read More

My journey in music took a couple of unexpected turns. As a youth, it was my intention to get a degree in trumpet performance, but life held a different path for me and I put the instruments away. Some years later, my wife- knowing how much I continued to enjoy music- suggested I take up trumpet again and I did, for which I'll be eternally grateful! I now perform in multiple ensembles in Westchester and Fairfield counties as well as in New York City in addition to maintaining a teaching studio where I can share my love of music. Read More
