Lessons are tailored to the needs, desires and goals of an individual student. I am happy to work at a pace that is appropriate for a given student. I am also happy to incorporate repertoire that is of special interest.
Cellist Toby M was born and raised in sunny Southern California before coming to Baltimore to attend the Peabody Conservatory. He has been playing cello since age 5, and has been performing publicily since age 11. He enjoys performing in a variety of groups, from small chamber ensembles such as string quartets to large Symphonic orchestras as well and everything in-between! Along with his performance obligations, Toby very much enjoys teaching, and currently instructs students of a variety of ages and levels of experience.
I have been teaching off and on since I was a teenager. I have taken my knowledge of music from many talented and diverse musicians across many genres. I have spent a significant amount of time on the road and in studios learning from some amazing people. I try hard to use all of this knowledge in providing students with fun, helpful, and diverse lessons.
I have always had a passion for music and have worked hard to be able to enjoy playing it today. I understand what it takes to get enjoyment out of music and above all else I try to get my students to enjoy it as well. After studying at American University and Amsterdam Conseratory of Music I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Music Performance in 2013. While studying in school and since graduating I have never stopped teaching, and I have the proper combination of experience and skill needed to make fun and informative lessons for students.
Since 2010 I have been teaching young Marine trombone players, and began to teach private lessons to middle and high school trombone players in 2014. The art of trombone playing is rooted in the fundamentals, and emulating the great examples of the best to play trombone through out history. Consistent, regular practice is a must when learning any instrument, as is playing something enjoyable every time you pick up your horn. We all started playing music because it was fun, and keeping it fun even in challenging material is crucial. A fun and positve, but honest environment, is the only way to keep students coming back for more lessons. I encourage all my students to perform in any opportunity they can comes along, and invite them to attend and be involved in any performance I may have as well. I am happy to work with students of all ages. Music is a skill and passion that you can enjoy all through out life, and it is never too early, or too late to get involved in it

Trombone lessons are recommended for older children, beginning around age 8. While it is possible that a younger student may be able to play, it is rare. The instrument requires a larger lung capacity, with lots of breath control. Proper embouchure strength is also needed to produce a quality tone, as well as physical reach to move the sliding valve.
By choosing in-home lessons, you are choosing the most convenient way to add trombone lessons into your schedule! Adults love our in-home lesson option as it allows them to learn their instrument without adding travel time to an already busy schedule. These lessons are also good for children as it allows them to work on their new skill in the comfort of their own home, in familiar surroundings, so they can be totally at ease and able to take in all the skills they learn during the lesson.
Adult trombone students may wish to study classical, jazz, blues, or even trombone versions of their favorite pop songs. What matters most is that the student is serious and dedicated to practicing every day! A teacher from our network will create a custom lesson plan for an adult student that focuses on fundamentals, while keeping the lessons fun and informative.
It is very important for trombone students to have a basic grasp of music theory from the very beginning of learning the instrument. Students will learn the different slide positions in order to play different notes. The teacher will help develop a correct embouchure, posture, and breathing technique, and also teach the student how to assemble, clean, and care for their trombone.
Beginning-level trombones, known also as student models, are relatively cheap and available through many music shops or instrument catalogs. Some music shops can also provide trombone rentals. Something to look for with a used trombone is to be sure that the instrument can be taken apart and put together easily and is relatively free of dents. Your teacher can also help with the selection of an instrument and all the accessories required to keep it in great condition.

Caitlyn is friendly, helpful and still holds my high-school aged daughter accountable for practicing. She also makes sure the music technique is mastered correctly during the lessons - they work hard and still have a good time together. I can highly recommend her as a flute teacher. My daughter is very happy & grateful to have found Caitlyn as a teacher.

Usually I don't write reviews. I am compelled to write for Feng. I've experience finding/working with many music teachers over the years for different instruments (piano, flute, sax) for kids. I think Feng is the best, he is so passionate about music, he encourages the kids. He teaches thoroughly - you can tell he knows lot about saxophone. I would definitely recommend Feng!!

Our daughter has only been playing the piano since March. Tony replaced our other teacher who had a job transfer and could no longer teach. Tony is fun and encouraging. My daughter is playing Taylor Swift and Christmas songs and is playing the piano more than ever before. Very happy so far with Mr Tony

Dr. Nedra C is incredible. She knows her craft in and out, it truly shows in her teaching. As well, she cares a great deal about the student, and preps plenty of material outside of the lesson for those that she teaches. I've had many different music teachers and am aware who's talented and cares, and who isn't. Dr. Nedra C is true phenomenal, and any student would be lucky to have her.

I would like to thank Polina for the series of classical piano lessons I've taken recently. Polina is a fantastic teacher and a high class performer, and I'm really happy I had a chance to meet her! I believe anyone can benefit from the teaching method Polina is practicing regardless of the student proficiency - from beginners to advanced performers. It was a pleasure for me to study classical piano courses under the guidance of such an intelligent & professional teacher! Without doubt, my playing technique has improved a lot and I have signed up for the new classes online already.

“Lynn is my music hero! She can listen to any song and write down the chords. She will adjust to make it easier or harder whatever your abilities. I have a busy schedule and often don't have time to practice between lessons and she is cool with that. She also will adjust lesson times when she is able which fits my hectic schedule. I'm glad my first guitar teacher "fired" me ....that allowed me to meet Lynn.” - Carol A., M.D., Aug 2015

My daughter is extremely happy and comfortable with Rachel, and looks forward to her piano lessons every week. She is a very kind and patient teacher, always using positive reenforcement with my daughter, which makes all the difference in the world to children. We definitely are looking forward to continued piano lessons with her. So glad we found her.

Michael is exactly what I was looking for in a teacher. The first thing he did was to determine what I wanted to get out of lessons, and what my existing skill level is. He is now aiming me in the right direction - and he is clearly skilled, experienced and knowledgeable, in addition to being very easy to get along with. I'm very happy.

Mr. Lou M. is a God-send! With the various needs that our organization requires from our education partners in order to provide enrichment services to our students, Mr. Lou M. has always gone above and beyond in meeting all of those needs. Our students are learning, our caregivers are happy and satisfied, and we couldn't be more pleased with his performance.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
