On my own, I opened an online-based Chapman Stick and tap guitar school in 2017 called “Tap Theory,” an evolution of Stick Science that was expanded to include much more content and has begun to pick up steam in the tap guitar community. I've also begun working in the indie game field, and have been commissioned to do the soundtrack and sound effects for a few upcoming games. I am a strong believer in listening before you play. When it comes to younger students this can be challenging, yet also rewarding. Younger students require a lot of demonstration as far as how to hold and position your fingers. It is a lot of muscle memory, and most new students need proper technique to get them to enjoy their instrument. I find this takes patients. I love all genres of music. I've been playing guitar everyday for 17 years and it is my main instrument. I also play saxophone, bass, drums, and keys. My educational background includes an associates degree in music (including performance, theory, and history) and a bachelors in audio recording and business. I've enjoyed teaching a wide variety of students each year since 2009 with most being middle or high schoolers. Many students the opportunity to perform in recitals or other public performances and several students successfully auditioned for Maryland All State Ensembles. I was a private instructor and led woodwind sectionals at the Bullis School in Potomac, MD where I taught lessons for 8 years. My favorite style of music is from the Hard Bop Jazz Era of the 1950s-60s but I also enjoy teaching and performing a wide variety of styles. Read More
