I have gained a passion for teaching from the people that taught and inspired me. I have worked with high school students and middle school students and find it rewarding to see them grow and progress into better musicians. I have enjoyed finding ways to keep my students motivated and wanting to come back and pursue their talent that they can spread with the world. For beginning students who are children, I typically begin with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for the basics as well as repertoire, along with my own additional methods of practice. Once the student has a grasp on their fundamentals, I will begin to progress through the book and introduce larger solo repertoire that would be appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I show them my methods of beginning to play the trumpet, as well as something that may interest them and guide my instruction accordingly to keep lessons engaging and exciting no matter the level of their ability. Practice is ideal for each student. I encourage my students in their practicing. Progress will be made most quickly by those students who maintain the recommended practicing time (1 hour per day). Parents are also encouraged to be involved in their students practice. Taking the time to listen to your child play their weekly songs, or creating a set time for practicing in the students daily routine are good ways to become involved. Read More

I was a student of Laurie Frink, who is widely regarded as the greatest trumpet/brass teacher to ever live. I use alot of her methods to teach students who are intermediate/advanced level. This includes her book, "flexus", along with a number of exercises tailored to the student. Laurie always found a way to teach every student differently, based on their weaknesses and strengths.
