For beginning students who are children, I typically begin with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for the basics as well as repertoire, along with my own additional methods of practice. Once the student has a grasp on their fundamentals, I will begin to progress through the book and introduce larger solo repertoire that would be appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I show them my methods of beginning to play the trumpet, as well as something that may interest them and guide my instruction accordingly to keep lessons engaging and exciting no matter the level of their ability. In 2008, I graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Music degree in Trombone Performance.
