Instruments: Piano, Trumpet

For beginning piano students, I use a series of books designed for beginners called Dozen a Day. It is very organized and it teaches the student in a very clear way. For my trumpet students I use Arbans, Clarkes. Schlossberg, and 45 years of experience playing trumpet. As to a philosophy of teaching, I believe in never ever being mean to the student as that causes a negative experience. Instead of the mean strict scolding method, I prefer an upbeat positive 'you can do it ' approach!! Read More

Instruments: Trumpet

My teaching style is to go at the student's pace but also to gently encourage and motivate all along the way. In this way, the students has the incentive to work at their own pace while I try to move the momentum along. The whole idea is to have fun while learning and to motivate each other by learning and playing music together. My additional teaching style is to also listen to music together and assign trumpeters to listen to. in this way the student is able to hear what other trumpet players sound like and can hopefully acquire the sound they like and want in their ear to emulate it in their own sound. Instruments: Trumpet

I have taught students that are ABSOLUTE beginners, and I have taught students that are almost ready to become professionals. One thing that remains the same throughout is that I try to discover what my student is trying to gain from my guidance. I ALWAYS will look for what I can offer the student, inside and out of the lesson studio. When you take me on as a teacher, not only am I an open book for you while in lessons, I am someone that you can text/call anytime if you are getting frustrated, and I am someone that you can invite to your first gig! Instruments: Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, French Horn, Tuba, Music

I have taught just about all kinds of people and all kinds of ages. I also love puzzles and challenges so any musical frustrations brought to me usually turn out to be flipped around to a solution or at least a carefully devised plan to achieve a goal. I have several students that I have helped win auditions and, while I will never promise a successful outcome, it is rare that they will not get into a group if they study with me consistently.
