Hi! I'm Steven, a multi-instrumentalist teacher and performer located in New York City! I hold a Master's in Music Education from New York University and a Bachelor's in trumpet and tuba performance from NYU as well. I've spent my entire life dedicated to creating, collaborating, and performing music, all while keeping many students. I'm hands-on, affirming, and challenging at the same time: I believe in gently recognizing areas of improvement, which we work on through fostering a positive, "no-wrong-answers" approach. I create a safe space for my students and encourage them to explore all areas and facets of the instrument; in doing so, students are then able to express themselves more dynamically in classical music, and to improvise more creatively in jazz. I hold a Master's Degree in Trumpet Performance from Long Island University C.W Post and a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education K-12 from Manhattanville College. I am in my third year as the Director of local High School Marching Band as well as a sitting member of the New York State Field Band Conference Executive Council as a Representative. Prior to this, I had performed in a variety of marching ensembles which include: The Tappan Zee Bridgeman, Featured soloist with the Hawthorne Caballeros Drum and Bugle Corps, Featured soloist with the West Sayville Golden Eagles Mini Corps, and a member of the Syracuse Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corps. For the beginning and intermediate trumpet, cornet, alto horn, baritone, euphonium and bass student, we will use Arban's Complete Conservatory Method. The speed of progress will depend on the students basic knowledge of musicality. For the beginning and intermediate trombone student, I have my own teaching plan as well as Blazhevich's School for Trombone in Clefs. Again, the speed of progress will depend on the students degree of musicality. For the advanced student on any instrument we will concentrate on playing duets and quartets by Gabrelli. we will also focus on the history and theory of music while composing our own etudes.
