For beginners, I start with Suzuki school violin and guitar books. Once the student has a grasp of the fundamentals I introduce pieces or may have the student pick out a pice they'd like to work on. For more intermediate players I generally try to help them with music they may already be working on and give them studies to practice relevant techniques. Regardless of instrument, I take both a technical and theoretical approach to teaching. Read More

I was born in Marshall, Texas. I received my Bachelor of Music and my Master of Fine Arts in Music Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. I've spent seven years in public schools in the surrounding Houston area before coming on to teach with KIPP Houston Public Schools in 2012. My primary instrument is violin/viola under the training of Dr. Isidor Saslav, but spend my weekends on bass for community events and local performances. Read More

While the student is learning the basics, I also add pieces in different genres to the student's repertoire so that he or she can develop early familiarity with a variety of styles. Read More

After a methodical start we would launch into various selections of repertoire which all foster growth and steady challenge. Read More
