During my time here I helped in classrooms ranging from K-12th grade, I learned various classroom teaching methods for different age groups. I have been playing violin for most of my life, and have obtained Bachelors and Masters degrees in Violin Performance from Rice University and New York University, respectively. I have had the opportunity to play with professional orchestra conductors during my summers at the Aspen Music Festival and School, and have performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, and Tanglewood. When it comes to drills/exercises/scales/etc., I try to use challenging pieces to substitute for them as much as possible. This makes practice more enjoyable, and gives the student more pieces (as opposed to exercises) to play for family and friends while still building on their skills and keeping them challenged. A huge part of music is collaboration and performance with others, so I make playing along with others on various instruments a part of my teaching once the student is sufficiently skilled for it.
