Instruments: Saxophone Flute

I believe that once a student enjoys what they are doing - that's where the true learning starts. I want to encourage the student to push their limits with their instrument. However, I will make sure that the student plays within their skill level to avoid bad performing experiences. If they want to play a piece that is out of reach for them, I may pick a piece that is very similar to that one with a goal in mind to one day work up to that piece. Read More

I encourage progress. I love to see students become stronger and more confident musicians. I like to get students as much into "the real world" as possible, so I push for getting students performing as much as they are learning. I have been teaching since 2006 and have had students become music educators and amateur musicians. I have students performing in PMEA district band, honors bands, HS marching bands and community bands. I work with clarinet and saxophone students of all levels, and beginner piano students. When students are interested, I can provide performance experience through a few recital opportunities. I am constantly exploring new teaching techniques and finding ways to best reach my students individually. I always feel my best when I'm teaching! As a private saxophone teacher, I've taught beginners as well as college students. As a graduate student, I also coached chamber groups and sectionals for younger students. I encourage all my students to keep open minds and to listen to all kinds of music. It's important that my students develop not just a love for music, but also a love for learning. Read More

I believe it is important for any teacher to be patient and compassionate. Every student is different in their abilities and learning processes.
