I teach beginning students both by rote and through reading. We use standard Suzuki books for repertoire and method books such as Wohlfahrt, Mazaz, and Sevcik. Very young students begin on Sassmanshaus since it is very engaging as well as well written. In 1994, I graduated from Asbury University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance. In 1995, I graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance. I am a musician who is passionate about sharing my love of music with my students. Throughout my six years of teaching, I have worked with students of all ages and abilities. I attended Western Michigan University for Music Therapy with piano as my primary instrument. Through applied lessons with distinguished faculty, I further developed my musicianship and teaching skills through performance and application. After some discussions about what resonates with the student, we will both explore options we can really dig into and present in concert format later.
