It is important to me that I pay attention to a student during a lesson to see what confuses them, what excites them and what frustrates them. I go at their pace. When a student shows a lot of interest and is practicing regularly I will try and challenge them as much as I think they can handle. Children and adult students need to know they are making progress. My teaching style relaxed yet firm and consistent week-to-week. I expect all my students to practice and highly encourage them to perform in a recital as often as they feel comfortable. I encourage the parents to oversee practicing during the week and give me feedback as often as necessary. I studied music theory, composition, and musicianship for four years; and I continue to use these skills in my practice as a professional musician today. My band is currently in the process of recording a demo, and we've had numerous gigs in New Haven, New York City, and Massachusetts. Read More

There is an adult series of Alfred Piano Course lesson books as well, so I am able to gear lessons for adults towards their teaching series as well. I usually teach beginning to intermediate level piano students, so these books are extremely helpful to those students because they teach proper fundamentals of piano playing, as well as theory, ear training, and technique.
