I began teaching lessons several years ago, and have continued to teach in various forms. Currently my primary teaching role is that of Choir Director, where I teach group members how to read rhythms correctly, follow melodic phrasing and even learn the names of the notes. I have taught individuals of various ages and skill levels, from children who are just beginning to learn to adults with knowledge based largely on ear training but who lack the technical knowledge of music theory. Students are taught basic reading, fingering technique, and rote memorization, but are also encouraged to learn to play by ear. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Read More

Sharing the gift of music with others is a great joy, and I love to be a part of it. I began my teaching while as a student, where I taught several students ranging from 7 years old to adults. I learned how to form lesson plans and make the most out of each lesson. I was also required to submit lesson reports to faculty so they could advise on how to improve and become a better teacher. I use piano adventures for most students starting off. With my more advanced students I use "The Russian School of Piano." Once the student is at an appropriate level, I then take them out of the books completely. At this time, we work on more difficult pieces in different time periods. Most students start playing Bach's music at first. This is to help the technique. Mozart also is introduced during this time, while this music is difficult, the interpretation is simplistic compared to Rachmaninoff. Read More

Hello all! I'm a welcoming piano teacher ready to spark passion for music in young pianists! I am currently studying Music Education in piano at the University of Delaware. I have been playing piano since I was 6 years old, and it's been a journey of learning new things everyday since then! I have experience playing contemporary piano on worship teams in churches, playing classical music for recitals, and entering a concerto competition. Read More

The goal is to supply students with the tools and the knowledge to be successful and also to facilitate an environment of growth. As we progress through lessons, I will challenge students with weekly and even monthly goals. I've realized every student has a different way of learning, and the methods will cater to the individual. For instance, students who learned mostly by ear can learn about theory. We can begin by identifying whether a scale is major or minor, but first we need to know that major generally sounds brighter/happy and minor usually sounds darker/sad. Read More

I have been sharing my love of music and teaching students for more than 10 years. I strongly believe in encouraging my students to practice and set up goals that would help them grow. These goals include learning a new challenging piece, getting prepared for a recital, audition or competition. I believe in helping my students with learning how to practice on their own and being able to work independently from our lessons. Read More
