My students can expect a teacher who is patient, understanding, and demands the very best from them, according to their abilities. Teaching has always been my passion and I believe that children gain so much more than just an elegant skill. Students of all ages gain confidence, self-esteem, and a good work ethic. Music is linked to better math grades, improved memory, and general. I love that my job is helping students achieve their goals. Read More

I taught private piano lessons to about 15 students ranging from 3 years old to 38 years old for about 2 years while teaching in the School District of Philadelphia full-time. During my time at Temple University I was in Premier Wind ensembles playing Euphonium and Trombone and performed with the Temple University Diamond Marching Band for 4 years. During my marching band experience I was featured on The Wolf on Wall Street starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Annie starring Jamie Fox, and performed on stage with Fitz and The Tantrums in addition to weekly performances at Lincoln Financial Field Temple University football home games and at the Boca Raton Bowl Game. I graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 1990 and began my professional teaching career in 1992. I consider myself an ambassador for and devotee of fine music - no matter what the genre may be.  My goal in my teaching and performances is to transfer my passion and love for music and to inspire people -  the way music has continually inspired me. Teaching and judging competitions does not leave me a lot of time for concertizing, though I do still perform. Read More

For beginning students, I usually like to start with figuring out their goals. This can be anything from wanting to learn a song, compose music, or simply just figure out some chords to play at a bonfire or social gatheirng. From there we'll look at the fundamentals (what it takes to play a song), and work one step at a time introducing music theory and technique to make it more enjoyable and less confusing. Read More

I would teach my lesson on top of my lesson plans. As a teacher, writing lesson plans is an important factor of keeping the lesson organized. The lesson also depends a lot on the students' learning pace and hard work. I will take time to get to know the students and to find out their different learning style(visual, aural or kinetic. )I will set a detailed goal and plan for my students and keep track of their progress and measure our weekly target accordingly. I begin students with the Faber Piano Adventures books, which get students' fingers on the keys at the very first lesson, and also focus on theory. Once they are beginning to read music, usually after a few months, I introduce popular songs to supplement the lesson book, such as the theme to Star Wars, or Disney music, which the children recognize, and add extra fun to their practice time. I am happy to find specific songs that a student may request! Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
