I teach children as young as 6, and adults well into retirement. I first assess the student's musical goals, then tailor the teaching method to achieve those goals. Some students want to just have fun, some want to learn "hum and strum", while others want to prepare for competitions or perfomances or go on to become professional musicians. Beginners and novice students first learn the basics of music theory by progressing through an established music course. Read More

I feel that I can develop a great rapport with students, and am able to relate to their musical interests no matter what their preferred style(s). Due to the extensive and varied experience I have gained, I am able to develop exercises and choose materials that are relevant to each individual student's needs and goals. My greatest reward is seeing my students gain confidence and the passion for making music that I have known throughout my life. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my high school days and has continued through the past twelve years. I love seeking to discover the unique learning pathway for every individual student and tailoring lessons specificially to grow and enhance foundations that other teachers have already built. I have a number of students who compose their own original material and encourage others in that capacity as well. Read More

When i start a beginner student, i like to use either Essential Elements or Suzuki for violin and cello. For piano, i like to use the Faber method books. As the student progresses with either instrument, I try to encourage them to continue with scales and to move up in their playing abilities and music reading. I try to mix it up for my students and ask them what they like to play just to keep them interested. Read More

I am very much a people person and enjoy adapting my teaching styles to the individual. Some people want to learn a very specific style of music, and others are open to learning everything. If the student does not read music, I always try to encourage a few lessons of just learning music theory. I find it very beneficial, even if the student just wants to learn guitar chords or tab. I am an enthusiastic and compassionate instructor who loves to share my musical knowledge with those eager and willing to learn. I received a Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from Cleveland State University in 2018 and became a board-certified music therapist in January of 2019. With this degree and profession comes the knowledge and skillset of numerous instruments, including voice (my primary instrument), guitar, piano, and ukulele. It is of great importance to me that students receive an individualized teaching approach that is unique to his or her learning style. Read More
