My favorite part about teaching is watching my students progress. Nothing is better than seeing the progress one makes after a given time. Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at their own pace. Setting goals for themselves can work well but there is no need to rush anything. I graduated from McNally Smith College of Music magna cum laude in 2011 with a bachelors in vocal performance. I played everywhere from Duluth. Minnesota to Lima, Peru: sharing the stage with artists as diverse as Andres Prado and Judi Donaghy. In addition to my McNally Smith Degree, I received master classes from Bobby McFerrin and the New York Voices. I am familiar with all teaching methods, both American and European. I use the combination of both. In general I teach scales, reading music, learning to sight read, metronme training, along with muscle development and strengthening. I teach all styles of music for both strings and piano and have had very successful students young and old. I start usually with Piano Adventures by Nancy and Randall Faber including Technique and Artistry Book, Theory book and Lesson Book . Additional solo repertoire might include Faber books on Jazz and Blues or Musical Theatre or Classics for children. Adults may start with Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course. I tend to custom the lesson plans related to the students interests too .
