I teach students of all ages and levels. We have two recitals per year, which are unique and fun because of our wide variety of instruments and our group songs. I help my students to first build a musical foundation. I motivate my students to practice consistently until they develop their own intrinsic motivation and aesthetic sensitivity to music. I allow them to bring in world music from other cultures or pop music and arrange and adapt it to their levels. My students regularly win the highest level of awards possible in State and local competitions, because I teach them how to tap into their innate music intelligence and to grow a love for it. Band classes (10), Mariachi (13), Marching and Pep Band (15) were my first performance experiences, not subtle, but we all start somewhere. While in High school, I played in a Drum Bugle Corp., Eb cornet in a college marching and played Lead trumpet in a college Big Band the San Jose Earth Quakes band. In college I decided on a life in music as a studio trumpet artist. I performed as a member of Mariachi, Funk, Soul, RB, Pop, Rock, Recording, Show Bands Theatre Orchestras, and, have been fortunate to play with some of the people whose musical styles I admire and emulate.
