As a mezzo-soprano, I had multiple performing experience in opera and chorus, singing roles like Hnsel in Humperdinck's Hansel und Gretel, Meg in Verdi's Falstaff, Cherubino in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, and so on. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in Cincinnati for the last 2 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

I focus on slowing incorporating more dynamics, articulation, and time signatures from there. I then start to tailor instruction to goals the student has, whether that be for a school ensemble, a solo performance, or other musical goal such has playing in a gigging band. Read More

As I mentioned, I like going at the pace of the student in lessons. If we are struggling in an area of playing/singing, then we will focus on that area until we've gotten better at it. Everything in music is related to each other, so I make sure my students understand that while we may be working on, for example, dynamics, that does not mean that anything else we already learned does not apply.
