I love teaching students music! Most teachers that are in this profession has to love what they do because we are not in it for the money! Music is a universal language and I have never known a person to not like music or not have a favorite song. I use music to teach my students about life. It lets them know that anything you do, you have to work hard and practice. Read More
Instruments: Voice
Esthetic, healthy, different age and different characters need to be teaching with different excises, Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Read More

I am a serious, nerdy musician who loves to learn something new every day and then pass that knowledge along through teaching others. After several stints at several colleges for both Music Performance and Audio Engineering I am thoroughly enjoying a performing career focusing on drumset, piano and voice. I can often be found playing music and singing at many establishments in the Houston/Austin/San Antonio area. Also I spend a great deal of time in studios writing, recording and producing songs for myself, my band and others. Read More

It was a great honor. Late into highschool I was accepted at the DCI CADETS for 3rd trumpet part. This is the second best drum corp (at the time) in the world out of over a dozen different division 1 corps. I unfortunately was not able to perform with them, however it was a great honor just being able to be accepted and to practice with them for 4 months in New Jersey. Read More
Instruments: Piano
For beginning students between ages 3 and 6 I use Progressive Piano Method for the young beginner. Older beginners are given options based on their age, ability and goals. I have testing materials available for those who are interested. When I taught international students at Brook Mays, I learned many different techniques for young beginners. Most of my students start at around 3 or 4 and stay with me all the way through advanced Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, etc. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet
For students, if any caliber, I start by teaching fundamentals. Fundamentals make it possible to enjoy playing the instrument. This includes things like scales, breathing exercises, warmups. After that I then will begin teaching skills. Often times, when playing an instrument, one skill is made up of multiple skills. I like to focus on the smaller skills and fine tune them so students can grow on their instruments. Then, based on the students preferred style, I like to give song recommendations and then begin to work on the style. Read More
Instruments: Violin Cello Viola Electric Violin Double Bass Music
I only want my students to have a positive experience when leaving our lesson. I am constantly letting them know what they've done well, along with what goals we need to work on. I focus on the sandwich method, which is one positive trait, something to work on, then another positive trait. Everyone is different, so their learning pace is different as well. I do expect them to put at least some effort in at home via practicing (although I know things come up sometimes), otherwise it would be hard to find progress when they haven't practiced what we were working on.
