Hi, My name is Solomon and I am a passionate artist, musician, producer, teacher (Piano/Keyboard Acoustic/Electric Guitar) and student of music performance and music production. In 2011, i stepped deeper into my music career by beginning to experiment with neo-soul, classic rb, funk and reggae music via taking music theory and piano classes at Morgan State University, soon joining the professional musicians in the area who performed publicly. I've been producing music and performing for 9 years, both on stage and in-studio production sessions. Read More

I also teach classical fingerstyle for classical sheet music for the guitar. I have taught many children and adults toward a level by which they are able to express themselves musically and reap the beautiful reward of creating music with their guitar and voice for a lifetime. I have the equipment to get any student started (if they want to try a lesson or two before purchasing their instrument) and will come to your home. Read More

My teaching style is casual, friendly and positive. Eveyone progresses at a different pace, so I set realistic goals and use different approaches based on the various learning styles -- visual, tactile and auditory -- that work best for each individual. I play along with you in unison, in accompaniment and in duets, starting with the very beginning lessons. I want even the simple things to sound good when you play them because that is what motivates you to keep learning more and more. Read More

I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and helping plant and grow a love for music. I got a degree in music from NOVA Community College in 2012 and am working on my BM from George Mason in Music Education. Right now, I perform all over the NOVA area with many community bands, a personal sax quartet, and I am even a part of a Balalaika Symphony Orchestra. Read More

I believe to be successful, you have to want whatever it is you are working towards. When it comes to music, this is especially true. I love seeing people 'get' it when learning, and the joy in their eyes spills through in the form of their improved skills, attitude, and smiles. I also believe that for some, playing music can be a sort of therapy in disguise, because not only does it take the mind off the day-to-day grind, but in doing so you gain knowledge and experience with every strum. My teaching experience started after college, teaching a family friend bass guitar. From there I realized I could just as well teach guitar, piano, and saxophone as well. I find it rewarding to watch people grow and learn skills they can use the rest of their life, enriching their life with the expression of music. From taking private lessons of my own on saxophone and guitar throughout high school and college, I've learned that consistency of practice is key! Read More

My approach varies depending on the student's skill level and chosen instrument, but for beginners I always try to get them familiarized with their instrument: teaching them the basics of reading music and how to navigate the different keys (or strings, etc.). From there I start teaching various musical concepts, the rudiments of music theory, and begin introducing them to different styles of music. When the student is advanced enough, I start having them run through my own custom designed technique and skill drills, and have them start selecting music that they would like to perform on their own.
