I started teaching privately in 2010, beginning with in home lessons. Since then I have taught in a private studio, working with students of all ages, levels, and musical sounds. I have even taught classes at the college level, focusing on music theory and history of rock and roll. What I love about teaching music is how I get to share my passion for music and the arts with my students, show that how great it is, and guide them to reaching their own musical goals, exceed their own expectations, and grow as individuals. I am an dedicated guitarist, composer, producer and bandleader from Monson, MA. Graduating with high honors from Berklee School of Music with a degree in both Performance and Music Production and Engineering, I have developed a passion for teaching and sharing the musical knowledge that I have been so fortunate to have acquired. Along with teaching, I spread my focus to include both the creative side of performance and the coordination and execution of many musical projects. Read More

My methods are customized to each student's individual needs, skills, and interests. Before each lesson a student and I will go over what their goals are. During the lesson we will discuss their strengths and weaknesses, what they can do and what they need to improve upon and practice what they've chosen to learn. At the end of the lesson we will review what we've gone over and plan accordingly for the following lesson. Read More

I like the Hal Leonard Guitar Method series, for guitar. I also use scales, picks, fingerstyle methods, and backing tracks to help get the students up to speed on a song or a riff they'd like to learn. It's important to understand the background of music, so I tend to also teach students the structure of a 12-bar blues progression and relate it to songs of yesterday and today. This enables students to get a well-rounded introduction to understanding timing, tempo, basic theory/progressions, improvisational ideas, and more! Read More

I cater my lessons according to the students experience level. For beginners, I teach them a few chords, exercises and get them playing their favorite songs fairly quickly. This helps build some positive steps and motivates the student to keep playing. For more experienced students, I use the Berkley Guitar Method, teaching them chords, scales and simple songs which puts the theory into practice. I also teach students to read music, which helps them understand music theory and song structure. Read More

Depending upon what area/instrument of music I'm teaching, I use a number of different materials, including (but not limited to) Tonal Harmony (Kostka, et al.), Essential Dictionary of Music Notation, Accent on Achievement, Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, or Rock House Method (McCarthy). The skill level of the student also dictates what resources I'll use. In addition, I believe that the student should have control over his/her development as a musician, so I encourage my students to create a list of songs they wish to learn how to play. Read More

For children under the age of 9, I recommend a Suzuki-based method which involves the parents at each lesson and for at-home practice. For children 9 and up, I offer a more traditional classical approach which shows them how to read, interpret and gives them the technical skills on the instrument to enjoy themselves and keep on growing musically. Adults are wonderful students and for each one I craft a path of study to allow them to grow in skill as they master new levels, from absolute beginner to advanced musician. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
