After teaching guitar for the University of Tennessee for 10 years, I moved to Nashville where I was able to tour the world playing music for 12 years. Lessons should be positive experiences where students are nurtured and encouraged so that they look forward to their lessons. I like students to keep a practice notebook which we fill out during the lesson. Rather than being required to practice for a set number of minutes per day, we instead keep track of how many times an exercise or song is practiced. My teaching experience dates back to my earliest teenage years, when I convinced a local church (and my parents) in Cincinnati, Ohio, to let me teach privately in one of the church rooms. Soon afterwards, I landed a teaching job with Howard Early Music there, one of the more reputable music chains in that area. Ambient Studios Producer/Engineer David P. began piano lessons at age eight. During his high school years, he began playing drums and singing at shows around the greater Cincinnati area. David began composing and producing commercial music shortly after graduating high school, working for Panoptic Media.  I implement materials of my own design mixed with songs of the students choosong and tastes, and typically have them up and playing a song or two that they like in a couple of lessons.  All ages, styles, and expereince levels are welcome. I love it when I see a student smiling because of their hard work and dedication to their instrument. Therefore, it is important that each student progresses at her or his own pace. I always encourage my students to start slow and to not get frustrated.
