I try to concentrate on the learning progress and enthusiasm of the student. I want to know what motivates them and the parents and help them focus on that. I also encourage performance opportunities and recitals to give them goals to work towards. I go at the students pace while challenging them to the next learning objective. My lessons are very interactive and tailored to their needs while at the same time following a standardized scope and sequence to make sure all the essentials are covered. Read More

I enjoy using popular method books designed to help develop technique at the student's specific level. I also particularly enjoy creating my own exercises that may be more beneficial to a student's specific technique development. Being a bass/rhythm guitarist, I place a lot of value on tempo and rhythm accuracy, and other key elements to being able to play successfully with others. I believe technique development to be of vital importance and approach it on a student by student basis - no two students have exactly the same lesson plan! Read More

nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace, so i encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. setting and hitting realistic goals drives motivation and acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more, and keeps the learning process new and exciting etc. by trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs, while the student remains comfortable and confident in his/her abilities etc. Read More

For beginner's, I do typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements books. For intermediate, I'll evaluate what materials they've used thus far in their lessons and go from there. If someone is familiar with a set of books in a positive way, there's no reason to change the books they're using. I do believe, however, there is profit in a variety of repertoire, so a diverse lesson is key. I have learned from experience that simply learning one genre (classical, jazz, showtunes) is less desirable than having a familiar ear to multiple styles. Read More

I don't believe in a one size fits all mentality for music education, I've often seen this approach derail students from enjoying the process and eventually terminating their relationship with music overall. Students are a case-by-case basis, and in that regard, each lesson is catered to the students actual goals and interests. I believe in training our ears and our sense of rhythm to a point where the student can figure things out and make artistic decisions on their own and use lessons, less as a tutorial, but as a source of inspiration to pursue the things that brought them here in the first place. Our production ministry expanded to address technical needs of contemporary worship. We hosted two churches in our youth space until we all just got too crowded. By then they were well established and moved out successfully. Through the local minister's alliance, we had community wide-wide worship services and outreach ministries. I was blessed to be successful in adding teams and processes to grow the church and the worship ministry, teaching and learning all along the way, with much love, prayer and support from an amazing congregation of dedicated worshipers of Christ. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
