Instruments: Guitar Trombone Ukulele Euphonium Tuba
I play in a wide variety of diverse musical groups on various instruments. I have performed with orchestras, big bands, and jazz combos as well as funk, hip hop, and even metal bands, all at a professional level. Although trombone is my main instrument, it has given me the solid foundation to play euphonium and tuba at a high level as well. My strong background in guitar also gave me the skills to learn ukulele, which now make up almost half of my lessons taught. Read More

I am passionate about teaching. Music education is but a second thought of most of our children's primary educational settings, so I wanted to create a learning environment that focuses on performance and execution. I am a composer and arranger, so I also like to infuse some basic music theory and compositional/improvisational techniques into my lessons. In short, I am trying to foster new artists! Read More

It would be very important for the student to have their own passion in music and the instrument they wish to play. Passion is the key to a successful music student. There would be commitments to make if a student wishes to learn private guitar lessons from me, such as making sure they are on time for their lesson. I'm more than welcome to help the student find out what it is they want to learn if they're undecided. Read More

For Children: I normally use The Hal Leonard Guitar Method series in conjunction with my own material I'll bring to lessons. I'll usually create a lesson plan that'll focus on all basic fundamentals that are goal-focused, while incorporating songs that'll help reinforce those mechanics! I like to keep lessons fun by bringing music that students enjoy and by using some music software on my tablet! I generally have a more laidback approach, but honest. Read More

For all beginning students, I usually will take a lesson or two to assess where the student is at regarding music, depending on (if any) previous experience with music, e.g. piano lessons, etc. For trumpet students, I am not beholden to any one instructional method book. Usually, I will select whichever one I feel the student will be most successful utilizing. A couple of examples of method books I use are Standards of Excellence and Student Instructional Course. I started teaching privately close to 20 years ago and it has led me to teach in a variety of settings. I have taught in both public and private school and individual and group lessons. I encourage students to develop a consistent practice schedule and also create very individualized curriculum for students and their musical goals. I keep students motivated by engaging their interests while developing their technique, love of the instrument and musicality. Read More

Im all about helping each student grow at their own pace. Everyone learns differently, so I make sure to customize practice routines and adjust how much info I throw at you depending on your style and focus. To keep things on track, I create a detailed profile for each student, highlighting areas of strength and areas we can level up. Its a great way for both of us to see progress and stay focused on what matters. Read More
