Bachelor Degree: University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, other: Wisconsin Conservatory of Music
2 time recipient of Jazz Performance Scholarship (WCM)
I'm an experienced, fun multi-instrumentalist with over 20 years of teaching and performing. I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree from UW-Milwaukee and studied music at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. I have performed with many national acts throughout the US and Europe and also have collaborated with many artists as both a co songwriter, performer and producer. I enjoy guiding students to reach their musical goals and structure lessons to be very individualized for students and their interests.
I started teaching privately close to 20 years ago and it has led me to teach in a variety of settings. I have taught in both public and private school and individual and group lessons. I encourage students to develop a consistent practice schedule and also create very individualized curriculum for students and their musical goals. I keep students motivated by engaging their interests while developing their technique, love of the instrument and musicality. Students are encouraged to learn from a variety of sources and genres to become well rounded.
I start beginning students with both a method book and a blank manuscript which we use to journal weekly. The method book is to instill a variety of fundamental skills while the manuscript (or materials saved and shared in google drive) is used to be a fun way of focussing and developing each student's individual trajectory. More advanced students may or may not require a method book per se but may be referenced to a variety of sources dependent on their current level of development. The combination of these two parts of curriculum help develop a student's person needs and musicality.
I enjoy guiding students to their specific goals and helping them gain understanding of their instrument and also of their own innate musicality. I tailor all lessons to meet both of these areas and find that it not only helps students motivate but also learn to engage their instrument in a way that is both fun and rewarding for themselves. I encourage students to have an open mind especially in regards to genre and what can be gained by broadening our musical palette as they build their practice and fundamental skills.
Great!!!
He taught very fluidly and paid close attention to make sure I understood what he was saying. He definitely takes his teaching seriously and I look forward to more lessons.
He took the time to learn the song I wanted to learn and he was so positive and responsive to the pace I wanted to go.
Todd, tailored my lessons to my ability. He would show me what to play, then send emails of those notes. I could practice until the next lesson. He asked what songs I had an interest in playing, then he worked with to accomplish my goals. I would HIGHLY recommend him as he will work as fast or slow depending on your skill level. I believe he adapts, and has great patience.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
OkAre you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
