For flute beginning students, I usually start with the Essential Elements. Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their skill level. For flute intermediate to advanced students, I try to find out what the student is interested in, what they have previously worked on, and what their goals are musically.
