I am a flute player of over 15 years with 8 years teaching experience who is passionate about providing quality lessons, especially to students who would not otherwise have access to them. I am a professional flautist and graduate of Berklee College of Music. Growing up, while I was blessed with a wonderful mentor on flute, I knew a lot of people who never had the chance to take lessons. The approach, overall, is to drive toward the student's goal. When someone wants to learn how to play an instrument well enough to play in a band or orchestra, I usually consider two needs - playing music and interpreting written music. These are basic parts of education, literally easy to define by achieving pages in etude books. I do not believe in the "cookie-cutter" teaching method, which means that I do not utilize the same teaching method with every student. I realize that each student is a unique individual with different learning preferences. With each student, I design a different approach that caters to the student's needs. I began teaching people how to play instruments when I was in high school, by teaching new students to the band how to play percussion. I then continued teaching once in college by volunteering at local high schools helping new students to the band programs learn brass and percussion. From there I worked with the Rich South high school band director and the Jack Hille middle school band directors.
