I pride myself on my ability to connect with students and find what motivates them. The New York-based musician is a recent recipient of a 2016 New Music USA Impact Award and a 2015 New Music USA Project Grant. ​Over the past year, Gina has performed in collaboration with artists stemming from the New York Downtown music scene incorporating classical and contemporary music, free improvisation, and electronics. In 2016 Izzo released Crashing Through Fences by Timo Andres on Ian David Rosenbaum's debut album Memory Palace (VIA Records), and was selected for a fellowship at the Bang on a Can Festival Residency at MASSMoCA where she performed and premiered works by John Luther Adams, Julia Wolfe, Missy Mazzoli, Louis Andriessen, among many others. Many of my students have been accepted to colleges as music majors or minors and my students frequently get the highest ratings in solo competitions. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing the light in my students eyes in those "aha" moments when simple suggestions open up new possibilities of technique and musical expression.  I offer both Suzuki and traditional style lessons. I believe lessons should be both challenging and fun and seek to find the right balance for each student. It is my job as a teacher to find out how each of my students learn and what inspires them.
