As they love what they are doing and how well they are succeeding, student often develop a wanting to put more and more work into their playing. I show encouragement for their accomplhments, yet also discipline to make sure they are on the correct path. My teaching style focuses on a student's strengths and successes. Any time a student has an "a ha!" moment, we stop and dissect what exactly happened. Perhaps the student used a new lip placement or air angle? We talk about this and figure out what they did to improve. Next, I encourage that same type of change in other aspects of their playing. With the piano books there are also theory workbooks that give them a chance to think about what they are actually doing when it comes to making music.
