If my student has a more "just for fun" attitude, the lesson will inevitably be a more light hearted feel. I give precise weekly practice assignments and expect the parents to be involved with their child's practicing. For adults, I like to have them set the tone as to what they want to work on, as adults have goals in ways that children do not.
