As I have taught many students on many different instruments, my focus has been on providing students with a firm foundation, including proper posture, breathing, embouchure, technique, and pitch/rhythm literacy. I have found great success in using the Essential Elements method books, and eventually move on to intermediate and advanced methods, focusing on etudes, scale studies, and solo repertoire. Also, I can offer flute lessons for beginners and those who are at an intermediate level. I find that I am at my happiest when I am instructing people in one of my greatest loves, music. In 2018, I graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of the Arts in Music, my emphasis being the saxophone. I have performed with numerous ensembles and one of the greatest rewards I get from playing is seeing the joy that it brings to others. During my four years at Ohio, I was able to play with the community symphony and it was there that I was able to see what music does for people in bringing them together and creating a strong sense of community, understanding, and joy. I graduated with my degree in music education from Westminster College in 2010. I taught grades K-8, choir and instrumental students in Pittsburgh Public Schools until 2021. In 2004 I graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in church music. Playing for and working with music in churches has been one of the highlights of the past 14 years. I pubished a CD of hymns entitled Eternal Days, where I arranged hymns for solo piano and piano and flute in 2017. Now, I continue to arrange hymns for my church and students, reflecting their current needs and levels.
