I teach according to each students learning ability and I also love to challenge my students to help with their daily practice time. Depending on the level of advancement , we will determine the materials that is needed for each lesson. If its a beginner they will start on the basic learnings and fundamentals of music to help them better understand the lesson. I've had the opportunity to perform with many university ensembles on campus (many of which I've had the honor of serving as principal player). I like to start beginning students with the Rubank Elementary series of books. Along with the Rubank books, I like to also focus on music being covered in school, if applicable. For more advanced students, I focus on the mastery of scales, technique, intonation, and sound production. I like to use the Andersen etude series, but this will vary from student to student. I have a Masters degree in music composition from the University of Memphis with a minor in music theory. I also have a bachelors degree in music composition from Texas A&M at Commerce Texas with a minor in piano. Since graduating from college i have been conducting after school music programs for many local schools as well as teaching private lessons from my music studio.
