The theme of the project covers the world of natural disasters like earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes and tornados. Igors band Innertextures represents Igor's passion for the music to journey to new and daring places. He is supported in this effort by alto saxophonist Greg Ward, bassist Chris Tordini and drummer Kenny Grohowski. Igor has released four CDs as a leader: Eleven (2018), Innertextures live (2012), Mineral Mind (2009), and Innertextures (2004). For beginning students I typically start with Hannon and my own finger exercises. I ask the the student to draw notes on a staff so they can get familiar with reading and composing music. All students from beginner to advanced, are given warm up exercises and recommended pieces to play . After 30 years of teaching piano, organ and flute ,I have written my own lesson books series. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students progress and develop their inner musician! Therefore, it's important that each student regular communicates with me their goals in music. I encourage students to set realistic practice goals after at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. My teaching experience dates back to when I was in high school when I would help students in my high school band program with audition repertoire and other flute issues. I began teaching privately in high school, and I have continued since. Right now, I am an Adjunct Instructor in Flute at New York University, where I teach undergraduate NYU students private lessons. I typically start beginner students on the Rubank Elementary Method books for saxophone, clarinet, or flute. These books are a great way to introduce the basic mechanics of the instrument, as well as reading music. I generally like to branch out from the method books as soon as possible, by supplementing the basic reading with other technical studies and pieces. For adults and more advanced students, I like to steer the focus more in the direction of what they want to learn, while still teaching the proper fundamentals of the instrument! Read More
