I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students to help them discover the beauty of music making and achieve their individual goals. I graduated from Jacobs School of Music with a degree in classical flute performance. Under the private tutelage of Kathryn Lukas, soloist and former principal flutist of the Santa Fe opera, I was rigorously trained in orchestral playing, chamber music, solo performance, and technique. It is pretty funny but works like a gem. Toshio Takahashi came up with this way to have a concrete way to teach begiiners embouchure and sound production. When the student practices with the rice, they produce a powerful"toot" the first time the headjoint reaches their lips! I like to use the Suzuki materials for flute and also mix it up with favorite duet books and classic repetoire. My students have won seats in district and regional band and orchestra competitions, play in competitive youth symphonies, and have participated in solo and ensemble recitals. I love teaching a wide range of students from those who are just looking to play for fun to students preparing for college music entrance exams. No matter which direction my students go, I always try to make sure they're having fun with the music and being able to play their instrument. Because otherwise, the music won't come out the same way without having that extra feeling put into it. In order for my students to reach further enjoyability, I always try to respect the pace at which each student picks up material and encourage my students to go about their craft with honesty and respect their own pace, knowing that music as a whole isn't a competition and that these students will all eventually reach their goal through patience. I have not yet started my teaching career but I am super excited to start gaining experience with all of you! I have taken a flute pedagogy class at my undergraduate, Gettysburg College and a woodwind and brass method class during my graduate studies at The Longy School of Music. I have much more experience performing and participating in summer flute masterclasses. I do hope to gain professional music performance experience by being in an orchestra, opera, or ballet, doing chamber music, and organizing small solo concerts. Read More
