I have taught students at all levels of ability from highly diverse cultural backgrounds. The most exciting moment for me is when a student catches on to a new concept and overcomes a fear or limitation. I am a recent (May 2015) graduate of Butler University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal and Instrumental Music Education. While in this position, Anthony performed in Concert Band, French Woods Symphony, and in up to 12 musicals per summer. During that time, he also taught multiple private lessons and sectionals to campers on a variety of woodwind instruments. In 2012, Anthony was invited to join the “Phantom of the Opera” International Tour for their run in Jakarta, Indonesia. Following the successful run of the show, he returned to the United States and joined Northern Stage in White River Junction, Vermont for both of their main stage musicals of the 2012-2013 season. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. I’ve enjoyed teaching the clarinet since I first decided to get serious about music in high school. I got my start by offering lessons to younger students in my neighborhood and the surrounding towns in the western suburbs of Chicago. During my undergraduate years in Greencastle, IN, I took several clarinet pedagogy classes and began teaching local students in the DePauw University Preparatory Program. In my junior year, I entered a 2-year apprenticeship with the Chicago-based Fifth House Ensemble where I worked with community partners to engage students in classical music performances and appreciation. Later I was the Clarinet instructor at Carl Sandburg High School and A.A. Stagg High school.
