Hello! My name is Natasha and I am prettywell known in the Baltimore area having taught hundreds of young musicians over the last 20 years.I love to play music and teach it. Some of my favorite activities are playing in an orchestra or a quartet, fiddling for dances or jamming with friends, playing piano, practicing, touring and performing. I grew up in Moscow, Russia and have been playing violin since the age of 5 and piano since the age of 4. Read More

My first experience giving private lessons was at a summer music camp right before my senior year in high school. I have consistently taught piano and cello students for over 10 years independently and as an affiliate of local music stores. My goal as a teacher is for each of my students to make gradual progress each week as they become more proficient with their exercises and music. I hold at least 2 recitals a year which I strongly encourage everyone to take part in. Read More

In addition to having performed on thousands of stages around the world over the last 15 years, I have been teaching private lessons in percussion for the last 10 years. I have experience teaching individual and group lessons, in some cases with groups of over 50 students. In addition to lessons which address the practical concerns involved in beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels of drums, percussion, & cello, I teach lessons in structuring performances (aimed mostly at bands looking to take their live production to the next level), prepping for studio time, tailoring performances to their setting (studio, venues small & large, workshops), and techniques for learning large volumes of material quickly. I think it is true that teachers often learn as much as students do. I always find myself reflecting throughout the week on lessons that I taught, and considering ways in which I can better interact with and tailor my instruction toward each individual student. My most important duty as a teacher is to help students connect with and enjoy the music, so I make a point of identifying any patterns and points of interest, and encourage them to express themselves freely while respecting the composers' intentions. As I have taught for many years, I feel encouraged and motivated when I can pass along my love for music. Nothing is more inspiring to me than to see someone's face light up when they pick up their instrument and learn. I set tailored goals for my students to reach every week, so that they have specific targets to reach. Positive reinforcement is the key to keeping a motivated student, and I encourage them in anyway possible making myself available to them throughout the week even after the lesson is over. Read More

My teaching style revolves around the interest of the student combined with my overall experience with one ultimate goal being that the student will develop the tools to teach themselves along the way. I like to use relevant recordings to play along with as well as simply recording the student and playing it back during the lesson. I will keep a written log of our progress and will have it available for the student as a reference as well as encouraging them to do the same. Read More
