I specialize in taking a practical approach to teaching, where there is more emphasis on the instrument as it tends to keep students interested and motivated through the difficult early stages. The most satisfying moment as a teacher is when a student finally "gets it", and for students, I find that lessons are the most fun when the student feels capable and not overwhelmed. I like to challenge my students and encourage them to exceed even their own expectations of their abilities. I encourage practicing a little almost every day of the week, and finding what fires you up about the instrument.
