I began teaching people how to play instruments when I was in high school, by teaching new students to the band how to play percussion. I then continued teaching once in college by volunteering at local high schools helping new students to the band programs learn brass and percussion. From there I worked with the Rich South high school band director and the Jack Hille middle school band directors. Nothing is more rewarding than when my students leave the lesson more motivated than when they came. I understand that it is a challenge for students to go home and practice, so I address this by setting goals for the student. I want the student to leave the lesson feeling proud of what they accomplished and motivated to continue learning. I want them to be able to apply the techniques they learn in music to other areas of study so that they can explore and be curious about everything. Read More

I've been teaching voice and violin for the past year and a half to children and adults but I mostly tend to work with younger students from early teens well into the 20s who want to pursue music. The background for my teaching experience comes from a few different sources. In 2014-2015, as an operations director and mentor with non-profit Off The Wall Graffiti in LA, I would regularly mentor young people who were getting in trouble for doing graffiti in the streets and needed guidance and a positive way to be creative.
