As a studnet starts lessons they will need to provide their own instrument. While advanced students may choose to buy a viola, it is a good idea for beginners to look into rental programs. By renting, you are able to commit less financially, and you will be equipped with all the accessories you need. Renting also benefits children, as string instruments come in different sizes, and a child will most likely start on a small instrument. As the grow, they will need to increase the instruments size, and this switch can be done very conveniently if you are renting.
Having lessons in your home can be a very convenient way to introduce music into your busy schedule. You will save time and money on travel, and will be able to have lessons whenever you schedule allows for it. By choosing this option, you are able to learn the instrument in a familiar place, while learning the same things that you would in an in-studio lesson.
All of our Musika teachers are highly qualified and able to teach everything the student will need in order to be successful with their instrument. While no one teaching method is used by all of our teachers, if you are interested in a particular style, such as Suzuki, we would be happy to find a teacher who specializes in that. All teachers will teach a combination of music theory, proper technique, and musicianship.
It is never too late to start a new instrument, we have many very successful adult students who have begun an instrument they have always wanted to learn. With our convenient in home lessons, adult students can work around their busy schedule, and receive lessons especially tailored, by our teachers, for their own personal skill level and goals.
Our earliest recommended starting age for viola is 4, although exceptions can certainly be made for a younger student who is capable of handling the strings properly and who has sufficient strength in the fingers and hands. A teacher can help you decide which size instrument to choose depending on the age and height of your child.
