In the past four years at Northwestern University, I consistently taught music to students in their homes privately. I encouraged regular practice and a consistent weekly schedule, especially for younger students. I believe that the faster students see positive results of their hard work, the more likely they are to remain passionate and excited about their musical careers. I enjoy preparing my students for concerts, recitals, school talent shows (and any other opportunity) by maintaining high standards, efficiently using lesson time, and combining pedagogically sound teaching with an excellent model for my students to mirror. My main areas of expertise are in voice, songwriting and composition, improvisation, contemporary piano and synthesizer performance, recording your own music, and ear training and theory. I love to teach because I have to teach. My philosophy is if you believe you are born with a special gift, you are obligated to give and teach the ways of this gift to people who strive to understand it. In other words, music is my passion and the one thing I've been able to do my entire life, and creating it gives me tremendous joy. Read More

I have been teaching since before I even went to college. My teaching experience, professionally, began in 2018. In 2019, I began college at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for vocal music. After that, I went on to teach more voice lessons, and added on piano, ukulele, guitar, and even theatre. Currently, I am an elementary music teacher in the Bronx and East Harlem. I am comfortable teaching with many piano methods. Some of my favorites include Alfred, Faber and A Dozen a Day Series. For more advanced students, I often recommend the Music for Millions Series or Bastien Piano Literature. For jazz, I often use Hal Leonard's "Your First Fake Book" and the "Joy of Jazz". All my students also get a strong foundation in scales and theory. I also stress learning all the notes on the grand staff and there are many good apps for this on tablets and smart phones. Read More

I began teaching guitar/piano part-time during my teenage years at a Music School in Northern New Jersey. As of now I have 20+ years of part time musical instruction experience. I mostly travel to students' homes for musical instruction which helps me stress to their parents how very important practice and routine is in musical studies. I teach a mix of classical and modern music as it motivates my students to practice with something they are familiar with. Read More

What does a normal practice session look like for you?
It can be very different between different practice sessions. They are more separated than connected. If my schedule leaves me with a lot of free hours, I would practice in a concentrating length. In the situation if I don't have a focused period, I usually break down the hours with a greater frequency, and a shorter duration. This gives me a chance to experience the repertoires that I've been familiarized from outweighing a predictable approach. For the pieces that are not new, I start off the practice from a particular spot, or the spot that I'm troubled with and then move to the other sections. For the pieces that are new, I tend to practice in sequence. But there are still a lot of times that I just pick a random spot to practice, then move to a different places without disposition of bar numbers.
If you have a Music Degree, what is it in (Performance, Education, Musicology, Theory, Composition, etc) and why did you choose that degree?
I have music degrees throughout entire academic studies in piano performances. I like to play in concerts, and enjoy preparing the pieces that are going to be performed in the upcoming recitals. Even if I'm majoring in performance, but I'm having an experienced study on music theory and education. The combinative engagement between performance and theoretical focus help me gain a better integrity. Interactions with other musical fellows during rehearsal sessions are fun. Degree of performance is demanding but is worth to pursue.
What is your dream piece to perform and why?
I like to experience all kinds of new music that are written after 20th century. Recently, what addresses my interest at most is the pieces that are composing for modern ensembles contain various instruments by applying extended techniques. I'll be exited to perform Music for a Summer Evening by George Crumb, la Monde des ronds et des carres (2015) by Misato Mochizuki, One of Us, One of Them (2005) by Ted Hearne, and Traces that Time Leaves on Built Form by Timothy Mccormack.
If you weren't a musician what do you think you'd be doing instead?
To be a computer programmer. Coding is a indelible skill that put people working in industrial jobs. The process of writing code is an interesting incentive, although a lot times people find that are very frustrated. I have never experienced a concentrating study for coding, but those well-known networking sites give me a fair amounts of information to stay in registration as an amateur coder. I like coding, that's fun.
What is your favorite style/genre of music to play and why?
I like to play pieces that are composed during 18th century through 19th century. Stylistically, the
