I am a piano instructor who is always passionate and excited about teaching the art of playing the piano. My teaching experience pre-dates college. I started teaching private drum-set lessons when I was in high school - I was also section leader so I would frequently hold after school sectionals with the entire percussion section. After going to college I started to teach more and more privately, gaining more students here and there. Once I started my practicum and student teaching experience I was teaching in many public schools districts of ranging variety from - Paterson public schools, to Allendale public schools, then to Wayne public schools -ranging from grade levels K to 12th grade. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson, while also gently pushing them to take their abilities to the next level when I see that they are ready to. I usually start my beginning piano students who are children, in Alfred's Basic Piano Library, Lesson Book 1A. After a few months, I begin adding solo repertoire that is appropriate for age and ability. For middle school age students and adults, I start with Alfred's Basic Piano, Adult, Level 1. I also like to find out the student's individual interest and find repertoire that they are interested in learning and that are aligned with their current skills. Read More

I always begin with an interview to get a feel for the student’s level and interest. I start out with basics; musical alphabet, finding keys in the piano, finger numbers, listening. The method books I prefer are the Music Tree series, the Schaum series, Bastien notecards and i have recently began looking into Piano Pronto. I like to keep my lessons instructional and fun so I welcome any books or sheet music the student would like to work on. Read More
