I love the opportunity to work one on one because every student's needs are so different. I offer a relaxed atmosphere while encouraging excellence in areas of music such as: Performance, tone, rhythm, articulation, dynamics, phrasing, breathing, ear training, music theory/composition, and music history. I find that students who practice during the week have the most successfully lessons and enjoy learning new pieces. Acknowledging a student's accomplishments sets the stage for better learning, and makes lessons more fun. Read More

I have been playing violin, viola, and piano for over 15 years. I began teaching as an assistant for CIM's Preparatory Orchestra Department, a position I held for four years while earning my Bachelors. As part of my minor, I also spent one year student teaching for CIM's Preparatory Eurhythmics Department and as a tutor for the conservatory. I moved to Tennessee in the fall of 2017 to earn my graduate degree as a Teaching Assistant for the school of music at UT, where I had the opportunity to teach private lessons and group classes to undergraduate viola majors and minors. For very young beginning students, I typically start with Faber Piano Adventures, and for older beginners, the Faber Accelerated Piano Adventures or Hal Leonard Adult Learner Series. Once the student has shown an understanding of basic theory and technique, classical repertoire will be introduced, along with level appropriate arrangements of the student's choice music. It's important that the student is taught how to practice a piece effectively to continue growing musically in between lessons, so that lessons can be used to find areas for improvement, and to learn new concepts and material. My methods are adaptable based on the student's previous or current instruction with private teachers or their school teachers. For all students I love to play along and model concepts for them. I involve a lot of kinesthetic movement based lessons along with visual and aural aids. I get to know the type of learner my student is and then plan my instruction to fit their learning style. I am a fan of etudes and short technical exercises as well as long tones for intermediate to advanced students. Read More
