I have been teaching since 2001, when I started to build my student roster, taught an internship at my conservatory, and also held a position at a local community music center.  I presently have a music studio with a full roster. I am commited to fostering a supportive environment in which disciplined is achieved through a natural process.  I help students reach their goals by giving them all of the tools that they need to understand the music, sharing my own techniques, encouraging regular practice-time, and keeping the excitement of music-making alive by always giving classes a fun spin. My teaching philosophy revolved around the idea that music should be fun and engaging. While many teachers start their students off by learning how to read music, I like to begin with actually playing and familiarizing yourself with the instrument and later translating that information to written music notation. In your first lesson, we will play the instrument and learn a simple tune based on your skill level. In college have had the opportunity to work as a music instructor to a studio with over 20 students on a weekly basis. The students ranged in age from 5 to 70. This gave me a good perspective on how to directly connect with each student to ensure that we are exploring the best concept of learning for the individual. I was in choir and band all throughout middle/high school and went to college unsure if I wanted to focus on music or theatre. I was very active in both departments and continued to take private piano and voice lessons but theatre won out and my primary focus changed to scenic painting.
