I like using the Faber books for children and supplement with classical pieces from Snell. For adults, I see where they are and use adult beginning books or other appropriate material depending on their interests. I usually start each student learning their major chords through the keys as soon as they are physically able, because once you learn your chords, sight reading and other playing becomes much easier. i also teach scales because if you can play your scales you can learn to play in all different keys. My goodness! Teaching for me began in classes of four to five kids, with no materials aside from our little keyboards and one music book. We had a blast there, and I look forward even more to being able to teach children and adults on a one-on-one basis, perhaps even one-on-two! I am a collaborative teacher, and will guide you through different lesson options and curriculum that best fit the student’s learning style and age. Read More

I cater every lesson to the individual, but I highly emphasize the use of exercises for everyone. For piano students, I love using the Dozen - A - Day books because they include many different 5-finger exercises that are really helpful in warming the fingers. I also will bring in the use of scales and chords, no matter what we're learning, so that students can understand playing music in any key. Read More

I strive to create a fun and engaging learning environment for my students. My teaching style is rooted in the belief that students should be allowed to explore and experiment with the material they are learning, while also having a strong foundation of technique and theory. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
