In 1999, I was commissioned to travel to South America to play flute for a tourist group of health professionals on a journey from Lima, Peru, to Macchu Picchu and down to the Amazon jungle! For beginning students who are children, I typically start out with Rubank Elementary Method for flute or piccolo. For very young students who have never read music, I would begin with flute posture on a special Suzuki flute if the student is smaller framed. In voice lessons, I start with the Bel Cantor style of teaching and once the fundamentals of singing have been achieved, its time to learn how to break the rules and maintain a healthy singing voice.
