Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

There is no such thing as a "best method for everybody" but better methods for people's unique needs. For beginners, texts from Hal Leonard, Jamey Aebersold and Alfred's piano course are great examples to guide students through, but ultimately the specific text doesn't matter as long as I can teach the fundamentals necessary to be performance ready. I like to believe I am very perceptive. Therefore, my first lesson is always about getting to know my student, or at least as much as they let me. Picking up habits in the beginning is a good way to know how to best teach and have a strong professional teacher-student relationship. Over time I can get a sense of what to say and when to say it. I have always believed that treating your student see you as a guide, or pedagogue than a teacher breaks any personal barrier much faster, and therefore both the student and I will communicate better. I can't stress enough how important practice is. That being said, I do not encourage students to practice material that does not contribute to their goals and interests. That is why I sit down with students and them write out their own practice schedule. The topics on the schedule should relate they're interested in playing. I began playing in the seventh grade, and was all-state by the tenth grade. My Bachelor's of Music Ed, and my Master's of Music in Performance are from LSU-Monroe where I was principle in both band and orchestra, and lead trombone in the jazz ensemble.
