Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I primarily use the Essential Elements String Method or Piano Adventures books to start beginners on violin, viola, cello, and piano, with a focus on note reading and scales, as well as playing by ear. If you have started on a different method book, I am happy to keep you on track with your progress. I am classically trained, but as you can see, I enjoy playing classical, musical theatre, post-modern, and rock 'n' roll, so I encourage learning the basics and quickly incorporating the music YOU want to play, as you develop your technique. In the first lesson, I listen very carefully to what the student wants to achieve and how they feel about the way they sing. Then, I begin my strategy of how to devise a skills building foundation based on their needs. After a few exercises, I can understand how quickly they can adapt and try new techniques.
