I have taught privately now for over a decade, as well as in classrooms and given masterclasses to all ages. I worked with pre-K through to the collegiate level in Philadelphia. I also work in communities, bridging gaps geographically and ideologically through musical experiences. I have taught in the United States, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. For younger students, I tend to focus on the production of breath and basic sounds as they begin to grow into their body. This is to ensure that the baseline technique is there as they find how their instrument, the voice, is growing into their developing selves. For adult students of any technique, I prefer to start with basic vocal exercises to test the agility and flexibility of the voice so that I have an understanding of how their matured voice functions. I am a classically-trained musician who loves all styles of music. My earliest memory of myself is age 2, dancing and conducting up a storm to The Nutcracker on TV. I would also put on all sorts of records (favorites include Mozart Horn Concerto and Dvorak Symphonies) and conduct along by myself. At the start of the first lesson, I give each new student a questionniare to fill out that tells me their musical background, influences, goals for the instrument and what music they are interested in learning. If the new student is a younger child, I begin them with Hal Leonard's Guitar Method Book One. Once they have grasped the simple chords and melodies of the book, I begin to introduce simple songs that they are interested in learning. Read More

My experience began with an internship at the Diller-Quaile School of Music in NYC. I assisted in teaching students from underprivileged school districts by taking them to their classes, encouraging them to play/sing along, and perform for them as well. I earned a certificate in continuing teaching and leadership education from this internship. Later on, I started teaching private lessons at a local music school the last 2 years.
