Instruments: Guitar, Voice, Drums, Bass Guitar, Synthesizer, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar

For someone with no experience on guitar I'll typically begin with scales, and familiarizing with the guitar. For bass; exactly the same as guitar to start, drums would start with with your basic 2,4 beat, and familiarization with parts (snare, hi hat, etc). Vocalist I would always start with a warm up, basics, and note reciting. For keyboard beginners I would show them their A,B,C's as far as how to access those, and we'd start messing with different shapes, and songs almost right away. Read More

Instruments: Guitar, Voice, Ukulele, Electric Guitar, Classical Guitar, Acoustic Guitar

I first started learning the guitar in high school. I found I had an affinity for the instrument so I continued to study classical guitar and piano in college. I first started giving lessons my junior year in college and have continued to teach ever since. I am also currently the music director for the Yorba Linda United Methodist Church in Yorba Linda California. My responsibilities there include: Arranging and directing music for both services and outreach/charitable activities, and providing one-on-one instruction for player/vocalist development. Read More

Instruments: Piano, Voice, Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, Keyboard

For beginning students playing piano I typically start with Alfred's' Basic Piano Library, deciding on level when I learn about a students background in playing. On any brass wind instrument I will start with Measures of Success by FJH Music. It's important to me that students practice and understand the important of fundamentals in their music playing. A solid foundation provides students with the necessary tools to advance their musical career far past casually impressing friends with simple and redundant pieces. Read More

Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Voice, Trumpet, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Bass Guitar, Ukulele, Music, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar

Of course as a private instructor I have to make sure to steer towards something instructional value in these situations. This can be tricky, so even if something doesn't immediately present instructional value, I can extrapolate correlations, patterns, etc. that give a basic pop song or TV theme more instructional value. In terms of Adam, I realized after about a year working with him that the best lesson plan was more of an outline than a traditional lesson plan. Read More

Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Voice, Ukulele, Music, Keyboard

I delight in guiding students to develop their musical abilities. My teaching benefits from diverse professional musical experiences-- live and recorded performances on an array of instruments; recording original songs, a movie theme, and chamber works; guest conducting public school ensembles; leading pop bands; singing on a Frank Black and the Catholics album, and two decades plus of teaching music. In 2013, after having accomplished many of the above achievements, I received my Bachelor of Music degree in Music Composition, Magna Cum Laude, from CSU Northridge. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
