I am a classically-trained violinist and composer, with a passion for teaching music to children and adults of all ages and levels. I received my Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Indiana University, and subsequently received a scholarship to continue my studies in Paris. Over the years, I have contributed to several non-profit and El Sistema-inspired music programs, in both North and South America. I am twenty-two and was raised in a musical household as the second youngest of six sisters and one brother. I recently attained my bachelor degree from SUNY Fredonia in violin performance with a minor in psychology, and will also be receiving my bachelor degree in music therapy from SUNY Fredonia after I've completed my internship at Monroe One Boces which goes from September, 2018 to June, 2019. Every week, I set goals that are individualized for every student. If the goals are not met, we could discuss the situation and adjust accordingly. After my own experience with it as well as teaching it, Suzuki has great techniques and music for getting students experience in sight-reading, ear training, and memorization. With the youngest students I start with the fundamentals such as naming the different parts of the instrument and some basic rules with notes. Acronyms and games are always the best way to memorize the different rules. I write out detailed lessons plans for each individual student, constructed specifically for their learning process.
