I am a focused and enthusiastic instructor who's driven to challenge students while providing a positive and enjoyable experience. I am a violist first and foremost with eleven years of training, in addition to studying piano for thirteen years and violin for five. In 2016 I started my Undergraduate degree in Music Education at Ithaca College, and will be finishing my degree at Queens College in 2021. I create custom lesson plans for each student based on their level, interests and goals. Typically I start brand new beginners with the basics, learning the parts of the instruments and the notes. Being a very visual learner myself, I enjoy using method books such as the Sassmannshaus series, as they are beautifully illustrated and help to capture and hold young children's attention. I usually teach using the Suzuki Method until the student is advanced enough to tackle repertoire outside of the Suzuki books. Along with Suzuki and other repertoire I use various etude and scale studies books to enhance technique. I emphasize ear training as well as note reading, posture, left hand technique, bow arm technique, and of course phrasing and musicality.
